Who are we?
Our Philosophy
JAM Early Education is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and rooted in principles of human development. We know and respect the necessity of collaboration between home, school, and the community to nurture the development of the whole child. Through intentional observation, our educators facilitate learning experiences that align with each child’s development, interests, and learning goals.
JAM Early Education educates children by supporting each child’s individual developmental progress and offering opportunities for growth in all areas; social, emotional, creative, and intellectual. Children are offered hands-on, real experiences to increase their interest and build depth in the work they do. The students in our care are given choice, time, and space to construct their own knowledge. Our goal is to support the natural learning process for the students in our care while ensuring we are also supporting their autonomy. The environment directly reflects those who inhabit the space, while emphasizing beauty and order.
JAM Early Education Vision Statement
We strive to be a place of wonder and joy, a place that honors children, their thoughts, and ideas by providing a nurturing environment that stimulates learning, entices curiosity, and encourages expression through the hundred languages. The individual child is given space and the needed support to become independent thinkers of their own pace. JAM Early Education partners with families and the community by providing opportunities to learn and work, as well as sharing the children’s experience with one another. We are a school that recognizes educators as thinkers, researchers, and leaders forging the way to provide the best education and care for young learners.
More Than a Daycare
Emergent Curriculum
Nurturing Young Minds
When we say our curriculum follows each child as an individual, we mean it! At JAM Early Education we utilize an emergent curriculum. Our teachers create their lesson plans weekly through a team collaboration and reflection on observations collected.
We utilize observations to capture a moment in time with the student to give us insight to the questions and curiosities they may have. An emergent curriculum allows us to follow the natural progression of interests that arise within the classroom. While following a schedule and routine is important, so is allowing space to follow the child and venture down a new, unplanned path.
Principle Based Approach
Guiding Growth
In order to support children in their earliest years of development, we have to understand it! All of our teachers participate in an eight month process of learning and implementing foundational principles. This goes beyond training and taps into the depths of our personal belief systems and alignment with research developed facts on child development.
When we allow ourselves to shift our thinking to be rooted in child development, we shift into a space to respect children and their thinking. Our training does not stop there. We believe that learning is lifelong. We provide consistent, ongoing professional development for each JAM Early Education teacher.
Child-Centric
Decisions
Putting Families and Children First
The partnership and continued collaboration between teachers and parents are crucial for ensuring the best outcomes for children.
The Reggio Emilia approach is rooted in children, educators, and families all walking an intertwined path together. This path supports the learning of all parties and most importantly, supports the highest potential of support for children.
